Systemic Circulation (Left Side of Heart): Oxygenated blood from the lungs returns to the Left Atrium via the pulmonary veins. Contraction of the left atrium forces blood into the Left Ventricle through the bicuspid valve. The left ventricle, having the thickest muscular walls, pumps oxygenated blood with high pressure into the Aorta, the body's largest artery. The aorta distributes oxygenated blood to all parts of the body. Significance of Double Circulation Double circulation ensures complete segregation of oxygenated and deoxygenated blood.
