Tubectomy is a permanent surgical method of sterilization performed in females to block gamete transport and prevent pregnancy. In this procedure, a small part of both fallopian tubes is either removed or tied up through a small incision in the abdomen or through the vagina. It is a highly effective contraceptive method, although its surgical reversibility is extremely poor.
