Transpiration is scientifically defined as the biological process through which water is lost in the form of water vapor from the aerial parts of plants, primarily through microscopic pores called stomata located on the leaves. The two main functions of transpiration are as follows: First, it creates a continuous upward suction pull, commonly known as the transpiration pull, which helps in the absorption and upward movement of water and dissolved minerals from the roots all the way up to the leaves. Second, it plays a vital role in temperature regulation by cooling down the plant surface when exposed to intense and direct sunlight.
