Coorg is a land of rolling hills and evergreen rainforests that cover thirty percent of the district. The Kaveri river obtains its water from the hills and forests of Coorg. The region is home to Mahaseer, a large freshwater fish, as well as kingfishers, squirrels, and langurs. Elephants enjoy being bathed in the river by their mahouts, and the Brahmagiri hills offer a panoramic view of the entire mist-covered landscape.
