- Bhola Nath's father used to wrestle with him, allowing the child to win and happily lifting him on his chest.
Meals:
- The father feeds the child with his own hands (mixing roasted rice, sugar, and milk in a large bowl), but the mother insists that children do not eat enough with men and feeds him morsels by force, calling him names like Kanhaiya.
Escape from Agony (The Dog Incident):
- Once, while returning from the fields, the children tease a mad dog. The dog chases them. Terrified, Bhola Nath runs straight to his house, ignoring his father who is sitting outside.
Mother's Lap (Mata Ka Aanchal):
- Finding ultimate safety, Bhola Nath hides in his mother’s lap (Mata Ka Aanchal). The mother panics, applies turmeric paste (haldi) to his wounds, kisses him, and embraces him, wiping away all his fear.

भोलानाथ (Bholo Nath): The childhood name of the author.
त्रिपुंड (Tripund): Three horizontal lines of ash (Bhabhuti) applied on the forehead by Shaivites.
बाबूजी (Babuji): Father (used respectfully in the region).
मैया (Maiya): Mother.
अमूमन (Amuman): Usually / Generally.

Title Justification (शीर्षक की सार्थकता):
- The title "Mata Ka Aanchal" is fully justified because no matter how much time a child spends with the father, in times of extreme fear, pain, and distress, the child finds absolute peace, comfort, and protection only in the lap (aanchal) of his mother.
Depiction of Childhood (बाल्यकाल का चित्रण):
- The chapter portrays innocent childhood games (playing house, mimicking wedding processions, making mud kitchens/shops) of rural kids.
Father-Son vs. Mother-Child Bond:
- Father is a companion in play and routine life, whereas mother is the symbol of emotional security, unconditional love, and healing.
