Reverberation is the persistence of sound in a big hall or room due to repeated or multiple reflections from the walls, ceiling, and floor even after the original source of sound has stopped vibrating. \nExcessive reverberation causes sounds to overlap, making speech confused and unclear. \nTo reduce undesirable reverberation in auditoriums and cinema halls:

1. The ceiling and walls are covered with sound-absorbent materials such as compressed fiberboard, rough plaster, or heavy draperies.
2. The seat materials are specifically chosen for their sound-absorbing properties to prevent unnecessary reflection of sound waves.
