Pitch is the characteristic of sound that enables us to distinguish a shrill or high-frequency sound from a grave or low-frequency sound. It depends directly on the frequency of vibration of the source. Higher frequency produces a sound of higher pitch (shrill sound), whereas lower frequency produces a sound of lower pitch (flat or deep sound).
