Composite fish culture is an intensive fish farming technique in which five or six different species of fish, having different feeding habits, are reared together in a single fish pond. Species are selected such that they do not compete for food; for instance, Catlas feed on the surface, Rohus in the middle zone, and Mrigals at the pond bottom. This system maximizes resource utilization and significantly increases the overall yield of fish.
