In cattle farming, domestic livestock are broadly categorized based on their primary utility into milch animals and draught animals:

1. Milch animals (Milk-producing cattle): These are female cattle reared primarily for milk production to satisfy human nutritional requirements. Examples include cows (Bos indicus) and buffaloes (Bos bubalis), such as Sahiwal, Jersey, or Murrah breeds.
2. Draught animals (Work cattle): These are mostly male cattle utilized for agricultural labor, including tilling fields, plowing, irrigation, pulling bullock carts, and transportation. Examples include Malvi, Nagori, and Hallikar breeds of bullocks.
