Fleming's Left-Hand Rule states that if we stretch the thumb, forefinger, and middle finger of our left hand such that they are mutually perpendicular to each other, then the forefinger points in the direction of the magnetic field, the middle finger points in the direction of electric current, and the thumb will point in the direction of motion or force acting on the conductor. Significance in Electric Motor: An electric motor is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy based on the principle that a current-carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field experiences a mechanical force. Fleming's Left-Hand Rule is crucial because it helps determine the direction of rotation of the armature coil inside the motor. By knowing the direction of the magnetic field (from the permanent magnets) and the direction of the electric current flowing through the coil, engineers and technicians can accurately predict whether the force will push the coil upwards or downwards, ensuring continuous and smooth rotational motion.
