Reflection of light is the phenomenon of bouncing back of light rays into the same medium when they strike a polished, smooth, and shining surface like a plane mirror. There are two fundamental laws of reflection which govern this behavior. The first law states that the incident ray, the reflected ray, and the normal to the mirror at the point of incidence, all three lie in the same plane. The second law states that the angle of incidence is always equal to the angle of reflection. These laws hold true for all types of reflecting surfaces, whether plane or spherical, ensuring predictable paths for light rays.
