She felt that people might get bored, judgmental, or impatient when listening to someone's personal problems or deep secrets, whereas paper is a silent listener that never reacts with boredom or criticism. It allows a person to express themselves freely without the fear of being misunderstood or interrupted. Anne wanted to unburden her heart and record her daily experiences, thoughts, and emotions. Since she didn't have a close confidant to talk to about "everything," she decided to treat her diary, which she named 'Kitty', as her best friend. This belief highlights her loneliness despite being surrounded by people and her need for a medium where she could be completely honest and authentic without any social pressure or the risk of her secrets being leaked.
