Responding to Parashuram's repeated threats and display of his axe, Lakshman explained the proud traditions and noble code of conduct of the Raghu lineage (Raghukul). \nLakshman stated that according to the established traditions of his dynasty, warriors never use their prowess or weapons against four categories of beings:

1. Gods (Sur)
2. Brahmins/Sages (Mahidev)
3. Devotees of God (Harijan)
4. Cows (Gaai) \nLakshman elaborated on the underlying ethical reasons for this rule. He explained that harming or killing any of these four brings severe sin upon the warrior, whereas suffering defeat at their hands results in humiliation and loss of reputation in society. Therefore, even if a Brahmin strikes them, a Kshatriya of Raghukul must humbly touch their feet rather than retaliate. By pointing this out, Lakshman subtly reminded Parashuram of his identity as a Brahmin while firmly maintaining the high ethical standards of his own royal dynasty.
