The Gopis compare Uddhav to a lotus leaf that stays in water without getting wet, and to an oil-smeared pot that doesn't retain a single drop of water. By calling him 'badbhagi', Gopis actually mean that he is extremely unfortunate because he has missed the opportunity to experience the sweetness, depth, and divine power of Krishna's love. True good fortune lies in being immersed in love, but Uddhav's heart remains emotionless and dry despite proximity to Krishna.
